music: let's make some kick ass playlists.
« on: September 21, 2013, 01:19:11 am »
so, for those who know me, they understand i'm a fucking music snob. as for those who don't, you know it now.

anyways, after seeing all the music in our celebratory thread to twenty members, i thought it might be nice to get an idea of what everyone listens to, give suggestions on what to listen to, and possibly make a kick ass paragraphite playlist or playlists, depending on the popularity of this.

i hoping with this, we can all expand our tastes in music somewhat or at least come to a general understanding on what everyone listens to.

and with that, here's the song i've been recently addicted to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEbO8jveVkI

This is awesome. I'm not sure if it's cool enough for music snobs. I listen to it while I run. It's presence in my play list has actually hyped me enough to shave a minute off my lap time.

On canceling the apocalypse.

This is an awesome idea.

Glad to see another Globus fan, Krystal. Take Me Away is one of my favorites.

Lightning, the longer I listened to Digital Animal, the more I found myself liking it.

A piece of my current playlist:

Gotta Knock a Little Harder by Seatbelts & Yoko Kanno
World Spins Madly On by The Weepies
Stealing Society by SOAD
Palladio by Escala (Also really like the Silent Nick remix version, but youtube doesn't seem to share my love.)
Moon Trance by Lindsey Stirling
I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie
Fortune Days by The Glitch Mob

Some modern classical, for those who share my love.
La Valse D'Amelie composed by Yann Tiersen
Racing Against the Sunset by Philip Wesley

Lightning, the longer I listened to Digital Animal, the more I found myself liking it.

because it's fucking awesome, and it's in breaking bad. their other song, zookeeper, is good too.

verse, i mean, jill, i knew it was you!

krystal, their other songs are just as awesome, especially this one, which sounds like it comes from a completely different band.

Lightning, I like this second song much better. Like, liked it off the bat and enjoying listening to it now. I may look more of their stuff up now.

Fortune Days by The Glitch Mob
Racing Against the Sunset by Philip Wesley

I downloaded these two. I need more like them, Globus, Two Steps From Hell, Stirling, and Escala. I already had that Escala song, haha.

So, some others for everyone:

Soon Love Soon by Vienna Teng
Sing For You by Tracy Chapman
The Moon And The Sky by Sade (tmi: I would become a man for Sade. She is a goddess.)
The Postulate by Emptyself
Something I Can Never Have by Flyleaf
Room of Angel by Akira Yamaoka

My current writing playlist includes these...

Hot Damn by Ivy Levan The video on this one is worth watching.

Somebody to Die For by Hurts

Otherside Remix by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis

Aaaand Anime theme song, not even going to try to write it out... but it's epic so try it.

As I am frequently told by my loving friends that I have terrible taste in music, it may be for the best that I do not join in playing this particular game.

I am however enjoying listening to everyone elses submissions. :)

i'm pretty particular about vocalists, especially female ones, but ivy levan is pretty awesome. i'll definitely be listening to this song from now on.

and man, i pretty much love macklemore and ryan lewis's entire album. they were pretty good live too, very entertaining.

i'm gonna stray way from honey claws now and post some other, equally awesome stuff:

my type - saint motel

about to die - dirty projectors

all your light - portugal the man

The paris match song is really pretty Dior! It says it's the english version, do you know what language she usually sings in?

And I have to say, I was expecting you to at least have one Ayumi in the mix... I'm a little disappointed since I can't seem to find the one with the dozens of Ayumis in riding clothes. I don't know why Japanese pop labels hate youtube. We would love to have them there.

You comment on that - and not the ABBA --- hummmmm

I do have several of their songs on my Ipod.  My boys watch WWE and that's where most of them came from.  Good "walk on" music.   Then again, I actually have a playlist of sports themes like the Dr. Who Theme and Hells Bells, and We Are the Champions.

Youtube search is strange.  Load up Queen and you get Andrea on the sidebar??? -- this is one of my favorite songs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wdx5nGphnAI

Charm -- there is a band called ghostwriter?  Seriously?  That's the title of my book in progress so I will now be listening to everything and trying to find the irony by mining the lyrics -- I know it's there.  Coincidence in life is so fun.

The song is ghostwriter, which is an awesome freakin song. Its instrumental though- Im afraid the irony stops at the song title. RJD2 is beast.

Speaking of which, just for you Q.

RJD2- the horror

Childish Gambino- Bonfire

Songs that have been kicking around in my head pretty much all day.

Carmelita by GG Allin.

It's catchy and I actually know the words, so yeah.

Haere Mai by Daphne Walker.

Seriously had no clue who sang the song or what it was actually called until I tried to find it on Youtube. No idea where it came from either, but somehow I ended up singing the bits I could remember and humming the rest while I was shoving stuff through a saw this morning. I haven't heard it in YEARS, like I was probably ten or something like that the last time I heard it.

Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey vs Cedric Jervais.

It's all over the radio, I swear I hear it at least four times a day, but it could be worse so whatever.

The Wanderer by Dion.

I blame my boss for walking around the shop singing it the other day, it's kind of been stuck in my head ever since.
