Year 205X.

New York/Otherworld City, New York.

A giant, futuristic city living on two sides of a very unbalanced coin. Recently (about 10 years) became of zone and new residence for the interdimensional. Most of New York is still on our plane of existence but one of the outskirts (strictly off limits for most) leads the "otherworld". No known human resides in the otherworld.

Interdimensional explained.
Literally anything. From talking two headed, six legged giraffes to people with shark teeth. Some are friendly, even speak the same language, others, not so much. Crime is common and terrorism is a more frequent thing. A dangerous city with a high risk, high reward factor that encourages many.

Everything's changed. Tech is far more impressive, medical advancements the world's never seen before, but of course, there's a draw back there as well. Weaponry just got a hell of a lot more dangerous and the variety of illicit drugs has quadrupled with many of them being very addictive and some very potent.

Police Forces.

JANUS: the gatekeepers.

Pretty much your super kick ass border patrol. Experts in basically anything and everything. They do whatever they need to do to protect their city. Morality is questionable.

It's been around for about 8-9 years. It came into existence soon after the whole interdimensional bit since it was kind of necessary. They do not work with the city's actual police force and have had conflicts. They are a bit more a secret organization considering they deal with matters not favorable to the public eye.

Members.
Pretty much anyone whose willing, given the you've got the skills to make your membership last. It's a dangerous job, but someone's got to do it. The powers, skills, and variety involved are just as unique as the new residents of New York City.

I'm thinking most of the members will have had some kind of history/relationship with the other members. There can be new or newer members however.

Baddies.
For now, I'm thinking stick to drug trafficking and kidnapping. Possibly terrorism later on since that can get pretty crazy with the explosions and all that. Oh and bank robbery, we should definitely stop some bank robbers.

Character Sheet Things.
Basic stuff. Say what you will, be as elaborate or as concise as you want. I trust you guys~

On another note, yayyyyy an rp~ I haven't done one in ages. Post sheets here and the like. Questions and ideas welcome~

Exite!

Paint some more atmosphere? We talking neon lights and silver surfaces, or gritty black blocks and more a white, unflattering light scheme?

I love future weaponry!

neon lights f'shoooo. i guess think of the city from blade runner but with the variety of peeps of the 5th element.

it's just like New York City except now there's alien looking things delivering your take out.

every city should look like this, srsly.

and now i'm debating flying cars. should we have flying cars?

double post thing.

so pride asked me an excellent question about how people/otherworlders in nyc will have powers/skills, or if's only otherworlder related.

basically, it can be both. the otherworld has always existed before the connection between the dimensions was made, it just wasn't so constant or obvious. creatures/people from the otherworld have mingled into society for centuries and thus so has their tech and powers.

people can be halfbreeds of otherworlders as well.

so basically, they can get their powers/skills from basic human stuff (this is 205X so all kinds of stuff could have made humanity bad ass all on its own), from otherworld tech, from being otherworlders, or from having otherworlder blood.

anything that makes sense is pretty much free game. from the vampire martial artist, to that one guy whose hella awesome with guns that he personally developed.

Makes sense. I'm interested in a guy who manipulates gravity, but I'm on the fence on exactly how he goes about doing it - tech or otherworlder blood.

Also, there should definitely be flying cars.

then flying cars there shall be~

oh, also, everyone is totally allowed as many characters as they can handle, whether they're members of JANUS or not.

i may take on two myself. still deciding.

one possibility is a self-professed demi-god who uses brass knuckles and has an addiction to betting on illegal street fighting (along with participating).

Ezra
self-proclaimed demi-goddess.

JANUS member.

twenty-five, probably.

skilled in boxing, kick boxing, bare-knuckle boxing, and street fighting. has super strength and speed.

fights bare-handed or with a pair of brass knuckles she's painted gold.

platinum hair cut extremely short (obviously dyed), with dark brows, and sharp feline gold eyes. a pretty face with a horrible mouth. built of lean muscle and stands about average height.

has a horrible addiction to gambling in the alleyways on illegal street fighting. however, she's built herself an extensive connection with New York City's underworld because of it. her personality is rude, crude, and a tendency towards violence. she gets impatient easily and will often be reckless because she refuses to listen or wait for anyone.

Charon.
not to be confused with the Greek Charon.

JANUS member.

otherworlder.

age unknown.

impressive strength and a skill for merging into the shadows. he refuses to use a scythe nor chains despite being insisted to him constantly because of references he isn't familiar with.

a creature of an unidentified species. his body is human looking, although taller and sturdier than the average human man. his head, however, is simply a pale white skull. he does not speak, often communicating through text on his smart phone.

is a kind individual despite appearances and avoids violence. he likes to read and is often in New York City's library. he has a fondness for animals and is prone to trying to save every stray.

Isaac
drops the bass.

Halfbreed, Twenty Five, JANUS member.

Tall and lean, his body is far denser than it appears, his natural resilience and remarkable weight thanks perhaps to the otherworld father he never met. The blonde hair he had buzzed to the scalp and an easy going smile are traits of his human mother, though she often reminds him that his lilac eyes are yet another lingering memento of the man that left them both in the dust.

His greatest strength lies in the power given to him by his otherworld blood: the ability to manipulate gravitons, altering the gravity of the world around him at will. Capable of sending a fleeing suspect tumbling into the sky or bringing a speeding hovercraft crashing into the earth. Proficient in hand-to-hand combat, well versed in mixed martial arts, and manipulates his own gravity to greatly augment his strength and speed.

A great lover of music in all its forms, Isaac prefers the melodies in his headphones to the cacophony of the city. A calm and fairly friendly man even with a gun pointed at his face, it takes a great deal to upset him or shake his good-natured smile. But like his unnatural body, that constant beam can be remarkably deceiving – he could and would bring the whole world crashing down on a person the instant it became necessary, smiling pleasantly even as he forced them to their knees and crushed the air from their lungs.

He joined JANUS because of the rumor of an elusive otherworld criminal named Atlas, said to be able to bend gravity to his whim.

Nora
300% more bang per buck.

Human, Twenty Four, JANUS member.

Standing at an impressive 5'2" and slim despite the muscles that came with running many miles with a rifle strapped to her back, she wears a curtain of straight, black hair that reaches her shoulders and frames a carefully blank face with perpetually frowning lips. Eyes the color of storm clouds are the only expressive part of her, flickering like lightning from one thing to the next, never missing a detail.

Sharpshooter. An expert marksman and firearms specialist, her hobby in tinkering with technology – human and otherworld - allows her familiarity with a very large range of weaponry. Despite that, she loves her customizable high impact sniper rifle more than life itself and it is her weapon of choice in almost any situation. Agile and subtle, she excels at fire-fights and fighting from the shadows, but carries a wicked knife at her belt that she can and will use in melee combat with brutal efficiency.

Pragmatic and brilliant, the only thing sharper than her mind is her tongue when she chooses to use it. Isaac's carefree attitude bears the brunt of it, but she has no qualms with telling anyone when they fucked up, how the fucked up, and what they can do to not be such a fuck up next time. Prefers to take the leading role if given the choice, but has little issue with taking orders when it’s from someone she deems competent. She has a secret love of trashy romance novels that she would sooner shoot herself over than admit to anyone.

The only child of a long line of police officers and military veterans, Nora knew her path in life long before she was accepted into JANUS.

Alveolar

baddie to the maddie

Is of race Alveolaris Tigris. Real name is Umbkep, but since his race is so rare the people he deals with simply call him by his race, because, let's face it, bad guys are also racist.

Long body, muscular, latex wrapped, black. You'd find it odd that there seems to be a high collar armor underneath that material. Why would you encase a stronger material in plastic like so? He is in fact a rather lanky fellow, and the mass you see on him are tentacles, hidden and shaped like plates for incognito. Yellow yes with black rings. White hair, white brow.

Alve is a famous trafficker, and dabbles in drugs manufacturing as well. His body can digest just about any compound and process it in its chambers (food is hard to come by in his dimension) and disperse it in any known form through his tentacles. You should try the bone syringe.

Sometimes acts as an informant for rare chemicals that aren't illegal,  but that he could turn into drugs.

aslo: what anime is this from, Lyte?

that can definitely be done. they'd probably want to know about any holes in anyones' securities that he's heard about, really anything illicit that could be helpful.

they're out to blow shit up and kill people like terrorist orgs do.

ic is posted~

/too lazy to link it.

first mission is basically celebrity body guarding. ezra's a big fan of hers/is looking to sell her autograph on the internet for good money.

i'm thinking she might have a thing for drugs (as celebs do) if you wanna work anything with that, verse.

as for the boss of JANUS that ezra mentioned, i'll work on his shit later. idk how important he'll be but every group needs some kind of leader, even an npc one.

Haha, poor Charon.

I'm working on a post that'll have Isaac and Nora joining them now.

Oh, and is it safe to assume that Ezra and Isaac will be flanking the VIP openly while Charon and Nora watch over from the shadows/distance? Or did you have some other plan of action in mind?

I could see some tension between these b-guards and Alve. Even if they know him, they might not want a criminal element so close to their client when they're working. I'm thinking the relationship is as amicable as it is between cops and mystery scumbags who sometimes give them info.

Saw first episode. Hype!

Ace
blademaster.

age, early 30's.

JANUS leader.

a master of every sword style. no one can best him with a blade, and most cannot handle him in hand to hand combat. his powers remain a mystery, although it's inferred he has strength, speed, and unnatural reflexes. he's human, probably.

dark, crimson hair sleekly styled. sharp features, softened with a touch of freckles, and green-blue eyes. stands tall with an athletic build.

chain smoker. a laid back individual, who might be a bit too careless to be the leader of JANUS. however, his skills are undeniable, and there's no doubt that he's one of the most powerful members of JANUS.

sounds good, verse, and i'm glad you like it~ it's sooo good!

Not at all, Verse. I really enjoyed your post actually - I like umbkep's attitude toward JANUS, haha. Nora's going to hate his guts, but Isaac won't mind really.

Work is busy this morning, but I should have time to finish my own post soon. It'll conclude with Nora and Isaac joining Ezra and Charon in the lobby, so we can go from there.

Edit// Sorry again for the delay, work has been extremely busy today. Finally got it up, let me know if I need to change anything.

Sounds perfect to me. Zanri flirting with Isaac is definitely something I can work with.

The fanatical fan and co. crashing the party sounds good too. Do you mind Nora warning about the group moving toward the party at the end of my post or would you rather handle that bit yourself?

no problemo, pride. i've been extra busy studying for finals aka why i haven't responded to your pm.

and i love that picture, verse. although it'd be hella confusing to have a city structure like that for otherworld, only cause writing about it would make my brain hurt.
