Title: video games. [hell yeah]
Post by: Lightning on April 15, 2014, 09:54:30 am
i noticed a distinct lack of video game related conversations going on and i need to get more of my nerd on.

so yeah, mention anything you've been playing, have played, loved, hated, want to play, etc. except candy crush. leave that on your phone, don't bring it here. ew.

and with that out of the way...

i've been playing my pokemanz y as of late. i'm poorly attempting to complete my pokedex while realizing there's some more storyline stuff that happens after you become champion and so on. btw if anyone has this game WE SHOULD TOTALLY BE FRIENDS. /creep

i'm also addicted to red dead redemption. that game is so kickass. except for the sneak cougar attacks. fuck those.

and has anyone seen the game play trailer things for watchdogs for the ps4? IWANTTHATGAMESOBAD.

i need to play pokemon, i'm still on the first white version. ;c

i beat dragon age: origins, and i've been trying to play dragon age 2 before inquisition comes out, which i'm really excited for.
and omg, i haven't played red dead redemption in forever, and i should because i'm still really curious as to what caused the zombie outbreak on the dlc.

by the time i beat dragon age 2, i'll probably replay both star wars: knights of the old republic and kotor 2, then the mass effect series again. i just need to find the time. /sobs

I have Red Dead downloaded on my 360 from when it was on sale for like 10 bucks, but I never got around to playing it. I've heard only good things about it though. If you guys recommend it so strongly, maybe I should dust it off and give it a whirl.

I see you're a fellow Bioware lover, dark. /high five! Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and especially the KOTORs have been long time favorites. I also can't wait for Inquisition.

I haven't played pokemon in over a decade, lol. I know there was a lot of excitement about the different evolution paths they have in x and y. Is it worth it for an old hand who hasn't really played in earnest since the days of red/blue? Unless Pokemon Stadium counts. I played the shit out of Pokemon Stadium.

My biggest obsession in the last month has been Dark Souls II. 250 hours and a platinum trophy later, I've moved on to the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD remaster. I'm loving playing through X again as it was my favorite of the final fantasies (tragic love story ftw) but I probably won't touch X-2. I hated that dressup nonsense. X was really the last good final fantasy game, imo.

Also played a bit of Kingdom Hearts 1.5. Watched all the cutscenes for 358/2 days or whatever, that game they never made a port for on an actual console. I am beyond excited for a KH3. I will likely buy a ps4 solely to play it.

Still have zero reason to buy an xbox one though.

Excited about mgs! Oh I love snake so much! I loved him when he was young! remember when snake was young and then not himself but actually the original him who also eventually wore an eyepatch oh the symmetry everything connects hideo!

Serial. ps4 is a must buy. As it looks now I might end up buying it for my cousin in a wedding gift before I buy it for myself.

I'll end up buying a PS4 one day. My brother has been talking about FFX since he started replaying it. Ugh. I want to play it again, but I only have time for one game presently and that is Dante's Inferno. I'm writing a paper on it, though, so that's why I have "time" for it.

It is the only game that has made my brother walk out of a room and claim "they can't do that", but other than that, Dante's Inferno is a simple hack-and-slash that satisfies my rage because it lets me kill Marc Antony and Cleopatra. Just a shame I couldn't "save" Judas. Or Brutus. I would.

---

Otherwise, I'm a pretty big fan of Fallout and Resident Evil. Also, Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts...once.  I don't think I will be picking up any game made by Squeenix ever again. That's a topic I won't get in to here, though.

Um...Pokemon. Yes. I played that last summer. Usually ends up a summer thing. I know nothing about X and Y, but I do want them.

Oh! And I have been playing Civilization 5 and trying to get Alexander to work with me. I'm so much better as Augustus where I just make everything Rome xD playing that way as Alexander doesn't seem to work so well.

lmao. i never played the white version. i went from fire red and made the major jump to pokemon y. i was like holy shit was is this omg i can pick clothessssss. on that note, pride, you should totally get pokemon x or y. i was one of the old timers and i definitely don't regret it. there is so much new shit to do and it's awesome. some of the new pokemon are a bit stupid though. THERE'S ONE THAT'S AN ICE CREAM. i named mine vanilla ice. it's a shame there's no ice ice baby attack.

AND OMG PLAY RED DEAD LIKE RIGHT NOW. i've got a major crush on the main even if everyone in that game is kind of butt ugly. he's just too cool.

and dudeeeeeee KH3!!!!!! i want it so bad. totally getting a ps4 for that and watchdogs and possibly destiny because it looks pretty.

verse, i have the hd set of mgs games although i have yet to play them. i've heard good things though~

i was trying to beat every game before pokemon x/y came out, i got up to white... i'll pick it back up eventually. but yeah, some of the newer pokemon are silly. i don't like the garbage one, trubbish. like why.

i seriously think they just ran out of shit to make pokemon out of. i mean, there's one that's a freakin' sword too. and then, some of these legendaries....i just can't make sense of them. i do really love that pokemon amie thingy though. I GET TO PET ALL MY POKEMANZ AND GIVE THEM CUPCAKES HELL YEAH.

on another note, i started up borderlands 2 again for what's prolly the billionth time. that game is just too awesome though, and i really like playing co-op through the whole story line~

Well now you've made me curious. I love the KH games, and though some of their depictions of the FF characters are not particularly good (I didn't think it was possible for Cloud to get any more emo than he was in VII, but I was very wrong), I didn't find anything too terrible.

Just started playing GTAV Online again now that it looks like Heists are in the relative future. Trying to save up some cash so I can buy all the nice, shiny things that will come out with that update. /vanityalldayeveryday

The new Pokemon are sort of...strange. Though, I've been thinking that since Ruby. They're either strange, or just an addition to the number of "useless" Pokemon you catch and store in the boxes, never to be heard from again.

Have they made a Pen or Paper pokemon yet? xD

To answer Pride: It was a culmination of FFVII Crisis Core, the continuing saga of Kingdom Hearts, and the existence of FFXIII and its sequels.

The tl;dr version of what follows: they fucked up the stories as I understood them and I hate that and they made a movie into a game.

In brief and with spoilers: FFVII Crisis Core ruins FFVII by inserting the character of Genesis into the Nibelheim reactor scene. I was cool with Genesis existing, I was cool with the idea of prior experiments to Sephiroth, but that scene fucked it all up. No. Cloud would have remembered that. If Genesis was *this* big of a character, if he was the one who, more or less, *drove* Sephiroth down his path, then there should have been something in FFVII. I do not approve of them messing up that scene by taking advantage of a “black out” in the original game, and thus destroying the entire story of FFVII for profit.

For Kingdom Hearts: At the beginning, Tetsuya announced there would just be up to Kingdom Hearts 2. Now, I know things change, and I would have been fine with it were it not for Xion of the Organization, The Undying Xehanort, and the Keyblade School.

Mostly, the Keyblade School, because it takes away the idea that the “keyblade chooses the master”, and also, I think Leon would have known about this. Then, apparently, if you kill someone completely, it revives them, a~la Xehanort? Or that’s what I gathered—kill his Heartless, kill his Nobody, and it restores him to ‘big bad’ status.

FFXIII: I know Final Fantasy is a game with set endings, but this game was, as VG Cats (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=293) put it best, a 30-40 hour walk down a long dark hallway. No NPCs to interact with. No shops, no exploration, just walking down a long, dark hallway. No delusion of freedom. I hated it. I beat it, but I hated it. I kept hoping it would get better, but it didn’t. That was the game where I swore off Squeenix entirely, because it was a “new” Final Fantasy and not a “sequel”, I was deluded into thinking it would be worthwhile. It wasn’t. It was more a movie than a game.

Haha, fair enough. I agree with you that KH's storyline has become needlessly twisted and the recent ffs have been lacking (like I said, FFX was the last good Final Fantasy). A lot of the KH plot seems entirely pointless, as if they were just making things up as they went along so that they could keep pushing the handheld games. That said, I really loved the two actual console games. I can understand why Tetsuya would have wanted it to end there.

Genesis was definitely a pretty heavy handed retcon, but I wouldn't say that it ruined the FFVII storyline. All it really did was substitute Sephiroth losing his mind over seeing the Jenova test subjects and coming to his own conclusions after reading the reports with Genesis flat out telling him that he's a monster born from Jenova. Genesis was gone even before Cloud arrived, iirc. I personally love Genesis' character - the obsession with LOVELESS was a fantastic idea, imo - and his malicious involvement felt more realistic to me than the calm and disciplined Sephiroth having a mental breakdown all on his own.

I definitely loved the character of Genesis as a character. I especially loved LOVELESS, and if I weren't upset with Squeenix, I'd actually love a game and/or movie based off the story of LOVELESS itself!

I just hated what Genesis did, and what he and the continuing saga of Squeenix stuff has come to mean to me. It might have been that Cloud stepped out (I beat it and then never touched it again) but then that's even more of an abuse of the black-out scene. And then the extra boss Minerva and all that stuff...it could have been done well, and as a concept, I love it. I love the extra experiments. I had high hopes from Dirge of Cerberus's secret ending. This was just too much of a suspension of disbelief, for me at least.

I actually enjoyed FFXII, but my brother shares your opinion that FFX was the last good one. I didn't care for the combat system of FFXII, but I still had fun with it.

That would be awesome, no doubt. Did you know the original LOVELESS was based off some Irish band's album the developers of FFVII loved listening to while they made the game?

On the Pokemon note, I just discovered that I can download a GBA emulator on my iPhone or iPad. Down the rabbit hole I go! For those interested: click (http://gba4iosapp.com/download/).

you kids with your iphones and ipads. get off of my lawn.

i don't have an ipad nor an iphone soooo.... thank god i'm a loser that still has a GBA. i should play the silver version again. that one is badass.

on the ff note, i played FFXII for like, an hour. killed bunnies or something. i hated the battle system so much so i don't remember it at all. would only play it again for sky pirates and rabbit people.

as for FFXIII, i've owned it for years and i've never put the damn thing in the playstation. squareblahblah has kind of died for me as well. they've gotten utterly ridiculous. i've only touched one of their KH games for the handheld and i HATED it. that keycard bullshit system? ew, gross. i pretty much chucked it from then on. mainly storyline plz. DON'T FUCK IT UP SQUAREBLAHBLAH. just let me have stitch on my team and we're solid. forget that bullshit summon stuff, i never use it anyway.

i was trying to beat every game before pokemon x/y came out, i got up to white... i'll pick it back up eventually. but yeah, some of the newer pokemon are silly. i don't like the garbage one, trubbish. like why.

This was me when Black and White originally came out. I bought White, beat the first three gyms and just lost all interest in the game. I'd played each generation from start to finish but with the fifth gen it was hard to like. I think it was their attempt to basically start over that did it. Throwing you into a new region isn't new, but giving you no old Pokemon to use until the post-game(or through the Dream World) seemed to hurt the effort more than anything, especially when you saw some of those new Pokemon. I hate Snorlax's pre-evolution, Munchlax(From gen 4, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum for those that skipped them) and always called it the Trashcan Pokemon, but then they came out with a literal Trash Pokemon.

Even though you're trying to beat each game, I'd honestly say skip White and pick Black or White 2 to beat instead. They did a pretty good job with the sequel games, old Pokemon "suddenly appearing" to be native to the region, well done story continuation from the previous games. I found it a lot easier to build a team in White 2, even filling it largely with gen 5 Pokemon I came to like.

I'd love to play X or Y, but I don't have and can't afford a 3DS, maybe I'll get lucky by the time they come out with XY2 or Pokemon Z.

I recently just completed Lego Marvel Superheroes, I'm a sucker for the Lego games.

um. hell yeah. i have the second one on my phone. totally kick ass for killing time and shit. it's also simple enough that kids can play it so they'll stop annoying me.

snorlax, i recently bought black 2. it's fun, although some of the shit is a little weird. THERE'S A FOOTBALL STADIUM WTF. i've only beaten three gyms so far and working on getting the fourth one. i also need to find a fire stone. I NEED MY ARCANINE. i'm so lost on the plot line though, not that it matters i suppose. i also hate the main's hair, both for the boy and girl. pokemon y has spoiled me.

also, there's totally going to be a pokemon z, i can feel it. it's going to have that ugly zygoteorwhateverthefuckit'scalled on the cover and it's going to be emerald all over again.

I haven't and could never make myself try the sport areas in those games, I wasn't interested even in HeartGold with that Pokeathelon or whatever it was beside the Park. Character designs for the fifth gen were.. lame works as a safe term. I found the rival in Black/White 2 really annoying as well.

From what I've seen/read about X/Y, the Trainer Customization could stand to be expanded better for males.

I made it through White! I thought it was okay. Going through White 2 now, I'm only at the second gym leader, though it does seem like it's a major improvement.

i also hate the main's hair, both for the boy and girl. pokemon y has spoiled me.

And Lightning, I think the main hairstyle is cute, at least for the girls. No comment on the guys. I see what you mean about the guys. Yuck.

i've got soulsilver next on my list. a friend lent it to me~ cyndaquil ftw.

haha, the rival. GETURPURRLOINANDGOHOME. and i'm starting to think black 2 is pretty difficult, well in comparison to the other games anyway, or it might just be that i don't know wtf half of these pokemon are and that fucks up the whole element thing. it's probably that. i need more dragons since fairy isn't a thing there yet. at least all the ice pokemon are pretty obvious.

well, didn't play a dude so....i didn't suffer through that. however, a friend of mine said the same thing. he said there aren't as many outfits or hair styles. i'm sure pokemon z or chromosome or xy2 or whatever will fix that.

And Lightning, I think the main hairstyle is cute, at least for the girls. No comment on the guys. I see what you mean about the guys. Yuck.

gurl, ublind? it's princess leia gone wrong, very wrong. but yeah, the guy is worse, much worse. pretty sure gamefreak was like, let's put a porcupine on his head, cover it with a hat, and call it done.

hm, never had a vita so i can't really say too much for it. however, i did have a psp and it was okay. i'm sure the game selection is better now. it was so limited when i had a psp and that made it kind of suck.

3DS is totally awesome btw. although, i almost never use the 3D function, it makes my head hurt and i have to hold my ds a certain way and meh, i dun wanna. the games are a bit more for any age group, unlike the vita which i think you can go from everyone to not so much everyone.

basically, i think it comes down to whatever games you'd prefer playing since even though the 3DS and vita are handhelds, they're super different. i'd look into what games each system has, see what you prefer, and go from there.

MAJOR EDIT: bahahahahaha, so apparently fuck pokemon z, it's going to be pokemon alpha and omega, of guess wut, reboots of sapphire and ruby. i don't know whether to call this laziness or genius, although prolly gonna go with the former.

there seems to be more action rpg on vita, which is what I like. But I can't deny the sheer volume and fan-stuff that comes to 3ds, so yeah. I shall see if there's a game I'll buy either for.

also, seriously, is the ps4 a good investment or not? like, i really want it because of the games and shit, but i also should probably get a new computer... the graphics do look fucking amazing though. i saw my friend's with call of duty or whatever it is (all those war games look the same imo) and it looked incredible. ughhhhhh why do i have to be so damn poor?!!!!

so, i recently purchased watchdogs for the ps3 and it's awesomeeeeee. my only complaint is that almost all his clothes look the same, and i can't see what they look like on him unless i buy them.

i do love being able to steal money like crazy. never has it been so easy to acquire $200,000 to pay for my faux ferrari f40. oh and the lives they make up for all the npcs can be pretty hilarious. i watched one dude confess his love to a store mannequin in his apartment.

Definitely investing in a PS4 in the wake of all those E3 announcements. Blood Borne is really what sold it for me, though there are a ton of games to look forward to this fall. I'm replaying Dragon Age: Origins in anticipation for Inquisition. Not to mention the GTA V upgrade should be pretty nice, if only so I can have my badass online character terrorize people in brand new splendor.

I've been debating on getting Watchdogs, but I've heard it really hasn't lived up to the hype it got. Then again, what does these days?

And omg, Dark Souls II is already getting a dlc. It took 2 years for the original to get one, but it was phenomenal. I hope this one coming four months after release is the same quality.

man, i've tried getting into GTA but it's just too vulgar for me. i do think it looks pretty though~

what i really like about watch dogs is its similarity to GTA in combination with AC. sure, the free running isn't as good, i mean he isn't an assassin, more like vigilante hacker, but it's still there. like AC, the people are really conscious of the shit you're doing and they chew you out for being a bad driver, pushing past them, etc. oh and i love how much effort they took into making it look like chicago. it's pretty spot on.

anyways, it's a fun, entertaining game with a decentish storyline and shit tons of side stuff to do. i don't regret the purchase.

and i've never played Dark Souls. i've heard it's hard as fuck though.

also, i just found out your character in Destiny is customizable and can look like a Bionicle. god, it's going to take ages till i find my alien/robot/fantasy thing satisfactory in color and face combination.

Well, you sold me on giving Watchdogs a shot. Just polished off Dragon Age and was looking for a new game to play. I'm waiting for it to finish downloading as I type this.

GTA is definitely really vulgar, no doubt on that. I played the story once, played the stock market until all my characters were billionaires, and have been playing the online with the personal character you create ever since. I look damn fine in my suit and faux Lamborghini, tossing C4 out the window and exploding other players in 120mph drive by's.

The only thing hard about Dark Souls is the learning curve. Once you know how to play, it's just patience and timing. It gets it's reputation because it is brutally unforgiving with mistakes.

Destiny is another game I'm really looking forward to. That, and Evolved. Both look really badass.

awesome! also, i just realized we should totes be friends on the psn. i have like, one friend and it's my cousin haha.

my s/n is rockyraccoonhaha. also totally up for anyone else wanting a new friend.

yeah, i can't stand GTA's story at allllll. that and all the characters are ugly. the watchdog's main, Aiden, he looks good as long as he keeps a hat on.

as one that makes a shit ton of mistakes and by mistakes i mean i spaz, press the wrong button and totally fuck shit up, i will probably not be playing Dark Souls any time soon. that and games are fucking expensive as hell.

i want Destiny sooooooo bad. the boyfriend and i watched a game play vid awhile back. it looks hella cool. i like how it's like scifi with some fantasy to it too. and of course, Bungie makes it look fucking gorgeous. i'm expecting some mad multi/coop play though, which, by the looks of it, is what we'll get.

i'm also just gonna toss in that new batman game cuz HOLY SHIT YOU CAN DRIVE THE BATMOBILE. oh and prolly play Harley Quinn, which would be pretty sweet.

Added you on PSN. Mine is Empty_Logic, for anyone else who wants to add me.

So I played about three to four hours of Watchdogs last night, and I have to say, it is pretty awesome. You were spot on when you said it's a balance of GTA and AC. Though is that home invasion stuff always so depressing? So far I've seen a guy get friend zoned, a bulimic girl berating herself as she throws up, a grandfather dead with a voicemail from a concerned and loving son, and a guy trying to move back in with his parents.

And wtf are the cops on in this game? They are absurdly competent drivers. It took me half an hour of doing the same car mission before I realized that there is no way to escape those assholes without using your hacks. The hack feature is insanely cool though. I have made 50 grand just running down the street and robbing people on their cellphones, lmao.

New Batman? I still haven't gotten around to playing Arkham Origins yet, because I keep forgetting I own the game, lol. I really love this series of Batman games though. Didn't hear about a new one.

Edit// Also, did anyone else see the trailer for Dead Island 2  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taQ3Rjm7k-U)and laugh their ass off? I loved the first game. I'm looking forward to this sequel.

shuweet. i'll add you asap.

yay, glad you like it. as for the privacy invasion stuff, there's some pretty weird ones and some funny ones too. there's one where all the hear is this guy's daughter going OMG DADDY YOU'RE SO PRETTY. and he's just like lol mommy won't like me looking pretty. and she just insists that the probably horrendous makeup job is totally gonna impress mommy. sadly, you never see them, only hear them talking. i also watched a dude talk to a mannequin on his couch like a real person and confess his love to her/it. that one was really strange.

lmao. i just run into them. i've learned not to care. if your car can take the beating, crash into em and push them out of the way. you could always take the train to lose people too. you just need to unlock the skill to hack trains. and, the more skills you unlock, the more ways there are to take out vehicles.

i love the hacking money thing. i never worry about spending money in that game. i've already bought all the clothes, most of the cars, and i'm working on owning all the guns.

as for bats, yeah, the new game is Arkham Knight. look up the trailer, it's kickass.

i don't game, i like to watch other people do it, mostly.

i don't own a console apart from a PS2 hidden somewhere and a 3DS that i use for animal crossing and pokemans.  i do however like all the stuff that consoles are becoming capable of and i keep begging wintermute to buy a PS4 and then get the remastered version of The Last of Us because it looks amazing.

speaking of wintermute, he bought me a special edition of Limbo  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limbo_(video_game))- i think i saw it when it first came out on tumblr or youtube and it looked absolutely beautiful.  it's a platformer, and i play it on the laptop but since i'm not that polished of a gamer the puzzles upset me. also the violent deaths, ugh.

this is limbo:

the dead island 2 trailer did make me laugh, Pride. i was too much of a wuss to play the first one past the hut things you find yourself in near the beginning. i don't like shock scares!

gta is amazing and y'all are broken.

also watchdogs and destiny is stupid and you're wrong Lightbutt.

i also watched a dude talk to a mannequin on his couch like a real person and confess his love to her/it. that one was really strange.

Lmao, that one was one of my favorites. I've seen all 30 now, because I have this thing where I must complete all side missions available before progressing with the main questline. There were a lot of funny ones, though the biggest 'wtf' was probably the guy and girl in the hotel room smoking meth and getting off to playing Russian roulette.

I really enjoyed hacking the cToS towers, doing the whole AC/Batman stealth mechanic. There are a lot of funny/weird videos of people's homes in those server rooms too. I saw one though that was very Silent Hill-esque. Pretty disturbing. My only real criticism of the game so far is the lackluster graphics, though I haven't progressed the plot further than beating up the guy who was prank calling Aiden's sister.

Also, just watched the Arkham Knight trailer. Loved it. I'll be playing Arkham Origins after I complete Watchdogs in anticipation for it.

pink text and amusing gif

Haha, jump scares always get me too if it makes you feel any better.

I have a love/hate relationship with Limbo, in that it is a fantastic game but I am absolute crap at platformers. If you haven't already, you should see about playing Journey. I don't know if there is a PC port, but it is another really great indie platformer with a gorgeous art style. It's pretty short, maybe an hour and a half tops, but it's a great experience.

If you haven't played The Last of Us yet or had the story ruined for you, you absolutely should pick it up. It's probably my favorite game of 2013, made even better by the DLC with Ellie they released.

and you're rude. go away. also, i'm like halfway done with the last of us and have been for the past like year or so. i'm probably never going to finish it. zombies stress me out yo.

as for the graphics, pride, there's been some posts on reddit about how to get the graphics similar to the level displayed at E3 last year. sadly, it's for the pc version, but i saw some pics online and it looked fantastic. i like to think that the ps4 would look better but i know it doesn't really. unless my boyfriend's tv sucks, which is probable. however, the upgrade is still only from 720 to 1080. and while that's a jump, it isn't a huge one. ah well. the game still got my dad to go "is that real people or is that the video game stuff?" silly old people.

hell yeahhhhhhh batmannnnn. you should totally play deathstroke in Origins btw. he's so badass.

Well, just beat Watch Dogs. While the graphics were disappointing and the plot was eh, I really loved the gameplay. Aiden's personality was kind of boring, but all of the secondary characters like Clara and T-Bone were fantastic. Defalt is one of the most amusing villains I've seen in awhile.

Was it just me or did there seem to be some pretty heavy undertones of Lannister level incest between Aiden and his sister? It almost seemed like the writers intended Aiden to be an estranged husband originally and changed him to be an uncle last minute.

Consoles I currently own are sadly just an Xbox 360. My PC busted up a few months back and I'm not bothered to get a new one yet and all these Steam sales! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR anyways, I still have fun my with xbawks.

- Dark Souls 2 which is very fun game if you like a challenge and a game that kicks your ass left and right. Dark Souls is also a good one, very tough and merciless. It's not necessary to play the first to understand the second but oh boy does it help if you've never played a game like this.

- The Witcher 2. Terrific RPG, the next installment is another reason I will need a next gen console.

- Fallout 3 & New Vegas - Who doesn't like open world post-apocalyptic RPGs?

- Left 4 Dead & 2 - Probably one of the few games I play online competitively.

- Battlefield 4 - Nothing raises my blood pressure past extremes than this game yet I still play it!

GTA IV, Red Dead, Saints Row 3 and Dead Rising 2 is pretty much my fall back games if the ones mentioned above bore me.

I'm considering a Wii U for the new Smash Bros, MK8, the new Zelda, and a few other exclusives. I might defect to PS4 as well because the Xbox One is just not appealing to me at all.

Games I want to play are Watch Dogs, GTA V, MGS Phantom Pain, The Witcher 3, Arkham Origins and that new Mortal Kombat that I hope won't be a disaster.

god, i must be the slowest game player ever. i still haven't beaten the game yet. i'm like, just on act III. i do fuck around a lot though. i get easily distracted.

and yeah, they do seem pretty close. although, i totally wanted Aiden to get it on with Clara. then again, that'd prolly be too much like Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, who Clara totally reminds me of.

and silent, i've heard mortal combat is gonna have several new characters, which i'm unsure if that's a bad or good thing.

Nah, I just have a bad habit of blitzing the shit out of games I enjoy. I do the same thing with shows, anime, manga, books, etc, lol. 120% full steam ahead, then boredom until I find something else to occupy me.

Currently playing Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World. It's a sequel to the first jrpg I even played (and thoroughly enjoyed), but this one is a pretty big disappointment. It's more like a mixture of pokemon with the Tales battle system than anything else. Honestly, the last three Tales games I've played have all been let downs. I really wish they'd make them more likes Tales of the Abyss and the original Tales of Symphonia.

Don't know what I'll play once I beat this. I downloaded State of Decay on my 360 months ago and never played it, I might give that a shot.

It's about that time of year again when all of the biggest releases are coming. Figured others might be as interested or excited about them as I am.

There are a lot of games I'm looking forward to playing in the next couple of months: Assassin's Creed Unity, Far Cry 4,  Dragon Age: Inquisition (!!!), the Halo: Master Chief Collection. Early next year is looking pretty sweet too, what with Bloodbourne, The Witcher III, and Evolve all slated for February around my birthday. Been seeing a lot of rumors that we'll be seeing a Persona 5 as well, which would be fantastic. Many are saying FFXV won't be released until Spring 2016, but it looks like FF Type-Zero is getting an HD release in March 2015, so hopefully that can tide me over.

For the past week I've been playing Lords of the Fallen, a really fun game with way too many glitches. Those who are avid fans of the Souls series like I am will probably enjoy it. Also spent a lot of hours replaying Persona 4 once I heard Persona 5 was coming out and had a lot of fun with it. I really enjoy Atlus games, especially the Persona series.

i kind of want the new assassin's creed, slightly because the outfits look cool and more so because i saw this gif on tumblr where they showed the whole lot of them with backstreet boys lyrics.

in not console news, the DS HAS A FUCKING SUPER SMASH BROTHERS GAME. lets ignore the fact that i'm too poor/busy to get it and the new pokemanz. oh yeah, there's zelda too~

christmas srsly can't come soon enough.

I need game suggestions.

I need a game, preferably for PC so I can play it while I'm stuck on campus, that is similar to Dragon Warriors III and Final Fantasy Tactics. In particular, I like the character customization aspect so far as classes and such, and all the min/maxing.

So...before I break down and buy Rome Total War II: Emperor Addition, what game should I really be looking at to satisfy my inner perfectionist, gamers of Para?

If you haven't played it Krystal, Dragon Age: Origins is absolutely awesome. I can't recommend it enough. It has everything you want, and if you play it on harder difficulties, then tactical playing is an absolute must. There are three main classes (rogue, warrior, Mage) but each has 6 different specializations so you can customize and min-max to the fullest. There are 6 different origin stories for your character (3 races, 2 different start points with each) and you can customize their looks. The character relationships are really flushed out (and vary on your dialogue choices with them, there are times when you may actually have to fight and kill long time companions if you make a choice that is really against their ethics). The story is full of important decisions you have to make that will drastically affect the outcome of the game.

Did I mention you kill high dragons? Because you kill high dragons. And it's awesome.

Haha, Dragon Age is the sort of game I think I'd get for a console. I'm not sure it'd be feasible to play it on a laptop >.> I don't think my poor thing could handle that game. That, or I'd go insane using the touch pad. I will put it higher up on my list of games to get for the console, though ^-^
Title: Re: video games. [hell yeah]
Post by: Pride on November 21, 2014, 10:56:42 pm
I played DA: Origins on my crappy laptop back in 2009, no sweat. But using a touch pad would definitely drive me insane, so I can understand that.

If you wanted something more turn based and old school like Dragon Warrior and don't mind using ROMs, Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross may be more up your alley. The Persona games are similar, though are an even mix between dungeon crawling and a high school simulator. Legend of the Dragoon is a solid RPG as well. If you wanted something more tactical, maybe take a look for a ROM of Valkyria Chronicles? It's similar to Fire Emblem (another great series you might like) in that if your allies die in battle, they die for good for the rest of the game. It's much more fantasy-military than fantasy-magic though.

Also, L: The new Assassin's Creed was meh. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't spectacular or anything. And the co-op gets really repetitive, really fast. I wish they had kept in the competitive multi-player.

disappoint. ):

i'll probably just play Destiny over the holidays then. and POKEMANZ. oh and super smash (c'mon santa let's make this happen).

my character for Destiny is at a disappointing level 9 and all my friends are like 25 or something. i haven't even finished the storyline that's not so much a story line as a what, that was it?

if there's anything i've learned from Destiny so far it's that it would be awesome to cosplay it. those costumes on tv look soooooo cool.

oh yeah, i forgot to add, there's BORDERLANDS THE PREQUEL. i want that too. gonna play the annoying robot and kick some asssssss.
Title: Re: video games. [hell yeah]
Post by: Pride on December 03, 2014, 03:18:16 pm
I'm pretty much in the same spot Destiny wise, L. I have a titan and a hunter to about level nine, but the entire lack of plot in the game really turned me off to it. I mean, I wasn't expecting the most epic story line ever conceived, but at least something - anything really - would have been nice. The closest thing to plot I've seen was the head honcho at the home base saying something along the lines of  'I could tell you why this happens. I could tell you how this works. I could tell you what your motivation for going forward is. But I'm not going to do any of that.'

Tales of the Borderlands just came out recently I think too, another Telltale games in the vein of the incredibly popular Walking Dead series with Clementine. And another Telltale game based on Game of Thrones comes out in December. I've never played any of that company's games myself, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. I might pick up the Game of Thrones one.

I am still playing Dragon Age: Inquisition. Man, this game is so good. They took all the best things from Origins and all the best things from Dragon Age II, combined them with some Skyrim like huge open exploration areas, and has Mass Effect level interesting companions who you can't bully into loving you by buying them copious amounts of gifts like in the previous Dragon Ages. This is the first game I've faced that has legitimately tough decisions to make and doesn't have Bioware's classic secret-third-best-of-both-worlds option that almost all their other games offer for those rough pivotal moments. If anyone is on the fence about this, I cannot recommend it enough.

Also, I've heard Far Cry 4 is an improvement on the great game that was Far Cry 3 in every point except plot, which is a bit disappointing. I have a had time believing any villain can compare to the masterpiece that was Vaas, but I might pick it up and see for myself after I've exhausted myself on Dragon Age.

ughhhh why does Destiny have to look so cool and be so frustrating?

oh, i've seen pics of tales of borderlands. i want it mainly cause the characters are awesome and the game is just fucking hilarious. my favorite is the assassin, zer0, he talks in haiku. it's fantastic. man, i want too many things haha.

hmmmm, i'm on the fence about dragon age mainly cause i think whitley really likes it and final fantasy has made me think all characters need to look that pretty. also, i'd probably go crazy trying to make my favorite (if i find one) like my character to the point of possible insanity.

solution, make the boyfriend get it. he should stop playing LoL or whatever anyway.

so, i started playing dragon age: inquisition, and i've realized i have a problem. i've made three characters already and i'm tempted to make a fourth. it's so just so much fun making them, and i can't decide who i'm committing to just that one of them better get cassandra cause she is awesomeeeee.

I know that feel, yo. I started three different characters before I settled on my first one through. I'm done with DA: I for now, but when I pick it up again I already know exactly what my warrior character is going to look like. Smashing (http://m.imgur.com/a/rSoti)!

Beat Shadows of the Colossus. Was meh, liked how it ended though. About to start up Far Cry 4. I doubt any villain can match Vaas in Far Cry 3, but here's to hoping.

i like my first one, but his face is wonky sometimes during the cut scenes and it drives me CRAZY. so i'm fixing him as my fourth one. i learned not to touch the cheekbones and jawline unless i really know what i'm doing with that, which i don't.

also, the voice samples suck and do neither voice justice. but i do love that the hair for both men and women is basically the same if not for a few differences.

and hahahahahaha. i thought of making one of the elves legolas, but then i realized i doubted i would be the first to do that.

i've never played any of the far cry games, not sure if they're my cup of tea. as for shadows, i think journey or something (i forget its exact name) is a better game. i like the little character you play.

...I'm having a really difficult time finding the words to express to you how amazing this game is. I was up until 3 am last night playing it (with work at 7, lol) and all I'm doing at work is thinking about going home to play it some more, lol. Mini rant here, forgive me - I'm so excited about playing this game more, haha.

The atmosphere they've made in this game is so fucking cool, the bloody Victorian England gripped in a single night of madness they call The Hunt. This game is wayyyy more Demon's Souls than Dark Souls and that's a really good thing imo - the combat system is a thousand times more fluid too now that they've taken away clunky shields and improved upon evasion. The storyline is subtle, but it's absolutely there and the whole idea of the 'Hunt' is really awesome to live in. The Hunter's Dream (your base of operations, basically) and the Doll (hard to explain who she is, in every Souls game you get a female companion who levels you up and provides 'support' in an indirect way) are such cool mediums to tell the story through.

Have I talked about the combat yet? Fucking. Brutal. Not in an over the top, dumb way, just very visceral and real - you feel like you're actually fighting werewolves and monsters and crazy people. The health regen mechanic is super awesome too, rewarding riskier play for higher rewards in a way none of the previous games did. They turned the Souls series on its head with this one in the best possible way. If you intend to play, I strongly suggest you get used to backstepping and rolling like a boss - thank god that's exactly how I played every Souls game so far, so I'm not having too difficult a time yet. That said, I stopped after I killed the second boss last night (WHO IS FUCKING AWESOME BY THE WAY) so I have really high hopes that I haven't hit the real difficulty yet.

And oh man, that feeling when you first extend your trick weapon is just...wow. I don't normally talk to myself when I play games (unless I make a mistake or die, in which case I berate myself endlessly) but watching the animation of the hunter's axe turning into the 2-handed executioners axe for the first time brought an instinctive 'Holy fuck' to my lips, haha. It's so badass. And your gun? You parry motherfuckers with it. That werewolf about to slice you into ribbons? Time your shot like a boss, put a bullet in his head, and watch him reel. And while he's stunned, walk up and tap the attack button to do a brutal riposte animation where you basically shove your weapon through their face. It's awesome, haha.

That said, the weapon in that gif (which is really cool) is the cleaver. I used the axe like I said (starter weapons are a sword-whip cane, cleaver saw, and hunter-executioner axe), but I plan on trying out the other weapons later.

Bloodborne is everything I was hoping for and more. You should absolutely grab it if you can! We can co-op if you ever need help with stuff thanks to their new 'Watchword' system.

Can you tell I'm excited yet? I can't wait to get home and play it some more, haha.

stfu, jill.

and omg, pride, i soooooo want this game even more now. boyfriend has agreed to buy it too, which is excellente. unfortunately, i won't get to play it till this summer because i have stupid law school things. i'm also super tempted to just buy a ps4 for myself as i just found out i can probably afford it, but my grades will probably suffer so....

it just needs to be summer already, srsly.

on another note, people have been kicking up a huge fuss over FFXV because there's supposedly no playable/main female characters in it. i took a look at it and was just like oh there's that dude that was supposed to come out in the FF series like a million years ago and still doesn't have a game yet. still, the reviews sound pretty promising and the game is supposed to be really pretty, so i'm possibly down for playing it for a ridiculous amount of time since all FF storylines take forever for me for some reason.

Yo, Tifa was a powerhouse - Final Heaven was second only to Omnislash in terms of OP Limit Breaks in that game iirc. Besides, have you seen Advent Children? Her fight scene (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k70IWHiXl18) in the church is easily one of the coolest fights ever.

I'm right there with you on the FFVII hype though. My only hope is that the game will be released before I die, because if the rate that KH3 is being worked on is any indication, we won't see a finished product for a long time.

Other E3 wonders? Fall Out 4, The Last Guardian, Dark Souls III (!!!!!!), Dishonored 2, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Halo 5, Star Wars Battlefront, No Man Sky. The next few years are going to be awesome.

pshhhhhhh. yuffie all the way. i had aeris/aerith whatever up till i found out she DIED. i was so mad when that happened. all that leveling up for nothing. i just don't like tifa as a character. she rubbed middle school me the wrong way, and i've never gotten over it.

and yes, i've seen advent. tbh, it just made me love vincent more. he's so cool. pretty sure i play the game just for him, which makes me wonder what they're gonna do with his limit break since he turns into all those monster things. it'd be awesome if they revamped those with some kick ass graphics since they looked kind of silly in the game sometimes.

dudeee and the new DS. it looks AMAZING. and you can play all the old nintendo games on it like POKEMON FUCKING STADIUM. yep, dying again.

Did you ever play Dirge of Cerberus? It was totally unlike the typical Final Fantasies in that it's more of a third person shooter, but you play as Vincent going around being a badass for Reeve (Yuffie is Vincent's partner too, iirc). They really expanded on his transformations in that game, using those top of the line PS2 graphics that blew my mind when I was 13, haha.

Well, his Galian Beast and Chaos forms, at least. Really fun game though, I wish they would remake it too.

Funny you should mention the DS, I just recently started playing the Pokemon Trading Card game one on my old school one. I might get a new one for the new Fire Emblem game though - I loved Awakening and Fates looks pretty cool too.

omg i didddddd. i don't remember it very much though. it was a blur of hauling ass through it because i was crazy obsessed with it. i should replay it after i beat the shit out of rayman for the ps1. my friends and i started playing it again and remembered why it was the dark souls of its time.

how can something so simple be so damn difficult?!

not just fire emblem but EVERYTHINGGGGG. i want it ALL.

oh and did i mention unraveled? like holy shit that game looks adorable and AMAZING.

OKAY. small minor rant mixed in with nice things.

firstly, my boyfriend and i bought bloodborne and holy shit it's amazing. it is also HARD AS FUCK. i have died so many times i've lost count and there's this giant fat bastard with an axe that i hope burns for all eternity in a pit somewhere.

this game seems endless and i love and hate that. also, none of the buttons do what i want them to do and i suck at this game and oh my fucking god where the fuck are the save points in this virtual victorian england hell?

ahhhh Lightning, you have no idea how glad I am that you're playing Bloodborne, lmao. God I love that game. If you ever need any help, just shoot me a message on PSN and we can co-op and junk. There's no voice chat, but the gestures are fun to use anyways and I've beaten that game about twelve times now (I have a problem), so it wouldn't be too difficult at all. Sounds like you're still near the beginning if the fatty with the axe is trolling you, so let me know as you progress through the bosses! Father Gascoigne especially, I can't wait to hear what you think about him, lmao.

Oh, and the save points are the lanterns! But there are tons of short cuts that cut back on the traveling as long as you explore enough and open them. The trip to the first boss is ungodly long unless you open the gate near the first lantern, after all.

As for me, I've been playing a lot of the new Metal Gear Solid, which I'm kinda iffy on - I can't tell if I like it or not, lol. And Dragon Age Inquisition just put out their final DLC, so I started it last night and I'll probably finish it today.

twelve times? twelve fucking times?!

omfg how did you even. right now, i'm hoping the scythe thing doesn't break. its durability is low, and we haven't made any damn progress (because we suck). also, i know of these lanterns that you speak of, i just can't find a single goddamn one and then Frank (bless his heart) comes at me with his uneven arms and his long axe thing and decides it's a good idea to slash a friend in the back, repeatedly. not cool Frank, not cool.

but Frank i can forgive. his friend with the giant fork though, can go fuck himself.

oh and the dude banging at the door cause he's pissy he's missing the bonfire, yeah he can keep his damn key. i dun want it.
Title: Re: video games. [hell yeah]
Post by: Pride on September 12, 2015, 03:15:19 am
lmfao, sounds like you're having a great time with Frank and co. If it helps at all, the dude banging on the door doesn't have a key - but if you try and skip him, there's a very good chance he'll sneak up behind you when you're fighting Frank's friends upstairs later. He's not too difficult to parry with your gun - shoot him right as he's swinging at you (not pulling back, have to shoot him just as he's coming at you) and then you can teach him some manners by shoving your fist through his chest.

You won't find another lantern though in that area - you're very close to a short cut though (and the first boss)! I don't want to spoil anything, but remember your first friend you met in the game and how you so rudely interrupted his dinner? When you meet his two friends on an area that looks like a bridge, look for a door that leads into a dark building on the right side of the bridge. Explore through there and you'll find a shortcut back to the first lantern that will let you skip the bonfire party entirely.

Recently obtained a 3DS, I'm now (mostly) caught up on 6th Gen Pokemon.

Currently enjoying Mario & Luigi Dream Team and trying to figure out which game to go for next. There's a few I'm interested in but after that I'm not sure which I'll enjoy so I'm not so interested in forking over 40+ bucks for them.

I'm rarely cool enough to be up to date enough with video games, but I make exceptions for a few. One of those exceptions is Fallout 4. My level of hype right now is off the charts. I'm picking up my pre-order tonight, might make my character, but then I have to sleep for work. BAH!

So who else here is hyped and getting Fallout 4 soon?

Oh, and who is else is nabbing the Nuka-Cola Quantum stuff?! I totally am.

It's all over but the crying... (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XW7Of3g2JME)

I literally bought the PS4 just for this game...

I'm pretty hype for Fallout 4 too, even though I've actually never played any of the Fallout games. I love Bethesda and I love open world games, so I think it's going to be pretty fun.

What I'm really excited for though is the Bloodborne expansion coming out in a few weeks. The Old Hunters looks so badass, I can't wait. Krystal, once you've had your fill of Fallout 4 (lol, who are we kidding, these games can entertain for hundreds of hours) you should give Bloodborne a shot.

On the fence about grabbing Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and Black OPs III too. I hated Unity so I'm super wary on Ubisoft games and I haven't enjoyed a Call of Duty game since MW2, but both are getting some pretty good reviews.

Bloodborne, Dark Souls II, Dark Souls I...they're all on the back burner >.> when I finish Fallout 4, I have to return to playing through the Devil May Cry series. I just started it a little bit ago. Got to #3. Then...well, Fallout xD. I don't give video games as much time as I should...

HOW COULD YOU NOT PLAY THE OTHER FALOUTS THOUGH?! Go play Fallout: New Vegas. Go join Caesar's Legion. Do it~ . I admit, I never played the first two Fallouts, but I did fall in love with 3 and New Vegas. I'm so looking forward to this game. All set up to pick it up at the Midnight party at Gamestop ^-^

Haha, honestly, the main reason I haven't played the or you'd ones is solely because I don't want to go back to old gen consoles. I think 4 will be a pretty solid starting point though - if it's good enough, chances are I'll go back and play 3 and New Vegas. Kinda like I did with Oblivion - I played Morrowind back in the day, then went straight to Skyrim, but loved Skyrim so much I ended up playing Oblivion too.

You should add me on PSN, Krystal! Then you'll see how often I play video games, lol. User name is Empty_Logic.

I didn't do that with Skyrim, even though when I read the story of Oblivion, I liked it a lot better. Not sure why I haven't gone to get Oblivion yet.

I do highly recommend Fallout 3 and New Vegas, especially New Vegas, though I am 100% biased in my reasoning.

Oh, also, Witcher III is somewhere on my list though I haven't played the others...it just looked good. I might go back and play the others if it is good enough, haha.

I'll add ya, Pride. Then you can see how much I don't play video games (well...when the Fallout craze dies xD). My user name ought to be ridiculously obvious. First, apparently, the PS4 has to update itself.

So the Bloodborne DLC came out and it is sooo good, I loved it so much, haha. I beat it in less than 24 hours unfortunately, but still, I loved the new areas and especially the new bosses. There was a boss that actually made me think of you Krystal, the kind of character I can see you playing in an RP - here's a link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVjdx2hA-pc) for her boss fight, if you don't mind spoilers.

Bloodborne drew me away from Fallout, but now that I've beaten the DLC 100%, I'm back in it again. I don't know how far you are in the main plot so I don't want to spoil, but I'm enjoying it pretty well so far - are you using any companions? I've stuck solely with Dogmeat the entire game and I love him so much, haha. I'm level 56ish and I'm fairly sure I'm near the end of the game, since I'm at the point where all the factions are legit trying to destroy each other.

I will check that video out when I get home, Pride. I never mind spoilers.

Just by level, I know I am not as far as you. Some of us do RP :p

I like Valentine, but I don't use him since I am playing an evil (read: cannibal) campaign and that means Dogmeat. I did use Cait and Valentine for short moments. Hate Piper though. As a companion in a good campaign, I will probably use Valentine.

How do ya like the city building feature?
Title: Re: video games. [hell yeah]

Haha, fair enough.

Have you met Strong as a companion yet? He's one of the few legit evil companions I believe, totally cool with canabalisn and murdering innocents. He's at the top of this huge radio tower, real close to Diamond City. You'll hear the distress call on your radio if you're in the vicinity. You'd probably like Hancock too, in Goodneighbor. He's a ghoul and he's so awesome, definitely one of the best companions.

I spent a lot of time messing with building settlements at the beginning of the game - my first play through is always to test the waters and learn the mechanics/consequences of certain actions, so I tried a bunch of different things, like building a wall around Sanctuary to keep our enemies (which doesn't work FYI, they just spawn right inside) and electricity to separate homes and stuff. Pretty fun, but my next play through (a super strong fist fighter, one of my favorite types of combat) I'm just going to build myself a fortress at the Red Rocket and let the Minute Men plebs have Sanctuary. What did you think of it?

How far in are you, plot wise? What have you been enjoying so far?

Plebs xD

I just found out about Shaun and where he's been. Knew he was older.

I do like Hancock but I haven't taken him on as a companion yet. Love his sense of humor, and Kleo. Good neighbor in general. Met Strong, I just dislike Super Mutants, I don't want a "stupid evil" companion. That makes us look bad.

I do like the plot and story overall, a fresh game, with so much more involved. I've been gushing to one of my friends every day I play it about all the new discoveries.

They're absolutely plebs of the highest (lowest?) degree, so god damn needy and constantly asking me to go handle their problems. I mean, are those ghouls half way across the map really bothering you that much that I need to go exterminate them?

Sounds like you're at the half-wait point for the story. I'm curious to hear what faction you end up siding with - my first guy is going with the Railroad, then my fist fighter is going with the Brotherhood (which holy crap they're so cool as an organization and I love the whole military badass vibe they've got going, but Elder Maxson is such an incompetent piece of shit, I can't wait to murder him and steal his fancy coat).

Strong's fascination with Shakespeare made me laugh, but yeah, he's pretty dumb. I'm still flip-flopping on using Cait or Danse as my companion for my fist fighter, but I'll probably choose Cait. She seems like she's the kinda character that would make me laugh a lot as I play through.

I adore Cait. I gave her a flamethrower and never looked back, haha. She doesn't kill me with grenades, either, UNLIKE A CERTAIN SYNTH.

I will probably go railroad in this campaign. There doesn't seem to be a decently evil option unless Institute is available. We will see, though!

Edit: Watched the video. Yeah...I can agree with your belief, Pride. Blood magic, two swords, fire, and a wicked coat? Oh yeah.

Wow, I'm so glad you told us they had a new trailer out L, I had no idea and my life is now better because of it. Just watched it myself (link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3sBZ5Nr4hc) for anyone else) and holy shit you weren't kidding, everything about it looks so good. My childhood is being revived and improved before my very eyes.

I am genuinely shocked they've already put out a gameplay trailer, I thought for sure that little teaser we had at E3 was going to be it for a long, long time. Dare I even hope that it might be ready as soon as 2017?

god, i hope so cause that would be AMAZING. i just... i love it so much. it's like seeing what kid me saw back when the graphics were cubes and i didn't give a shit because i thought that was amazing.

also, because fVII is getting a remake, the future newest addition to smash is going to be cloud!!!! this will slightly sedate me as i wait in anticipation for possibly the greatest thing everrrrr.

I'm glad you two will enjoy it. I think the trailer just settled it for me that I won't be buying it. They took away my combat system, curse them...gorgeous as it looks, I'll just watch the videos online, methinks, and replay the old version, but we'll see.

I'm a little surprised to hear that from you, Krystal - the combat system seems very reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts, with the active running around and the access to a fight/magic/summon/item menu. It even has a special gauge that's probably used for limit breaks, just like Sora had for his transformations in 2. What is it about turn based combat you prefer more, out of curiosity?

I honestly can't wait to see Yuffie and Vincent in this, I wonder if they'll still be totally optional characters people can skip or if they're going to bake them into the main plot a bit more. Oh my god, and Cid Highwind - he better still be cursing up a storm. I wonder who they got for all their voice actors?

Don't get me wrong, I loved KH's system...for KH. The game requires little strategy, and I never felt like Donald and Goofy were main characters.

For FFXII, which I loved, and FFXIII, which I hate doing, I find the battle systems repulsive. I feel like I'm watching a movie. I want to take the time to control and strategize with ALL my characters, not one. I loved the battle system for the control and customization via materia. It was fantastic, my favorite, besides Tactics...and since battle is a huge part, seeing this change just...ugh. I knew it would happen and I am still upset.

i kind of hope they're still optional only because i remember a younger me struggling to get them to be on my team, especially Vincent. then again, i kind of hope they're not only cause i love Vincent and Yuffie is adorable and they could use the screen time.

they better keep Cloud dressing up and pretending to be a girl though, i NEED that to happen.

sorry the battle system isn't to your liking, Krystal, but I feel you. It's so hard to play through a game when it doesn't play the way you want it to. i'm talking about you KH whatever for the GBA, a card system, really? the fuck was that?!

Pokemon rerelease on the 3DS had me for awhile. Finally finished my life long goal of catching all 151 pokemon in one save file - I know it's a bit late (thanks for reminding me Krystal! /sob), but honestly, what's 18 years to an accomplishment like being the Pokemon Master?

Dark Souls 3 releases April. I'm so hype that there are no words to describe. Been avidly avoiding all spoilers to the game so I can go in completely fresh and get that masochistic high that only a Souls game can give on your first playthrough.

Legion in September. Persona 5 sometime this year, probably? Final Fantasy XV supposedly this year too. Lookin forward to them all.

so...it's time for my infamously long tangent about whatever games i'm interested/played/need to breathe, etc.

FIRST

the new pokemon sun and moon game. i haven't wanted a pokemon game so bad since the gold and silver versions. it looks AMAZING and the trailers thus far have just amped my hype for it. these new region versions (alola or whatever the hell) look so fucking cool. Also, surfing motherfucking raichu, dreams do come true.

most importantly, i can finally dress up my character in cool ass shit and she can have hair cuts again. literally all my money in XY went to clothes and this game will be no different. also, the variety of styles is hella impressive and much better than the cool, beauty, sporty, and elegant styles in XY. needless to say, my character is gonna have one hell of a wardrobe.

also, the starters finally have a cat, a freakin' fire tiger. sold, so buying in November.

SECOND

i finally bought unraveled like...two weeks ago. it's gorgeous and adorable and definitely worth the twenty bucks i paid for it. unfortunately i am also totally and completely stuck in it and my yarny doll keeps drowning and i hate sticks. also, crabs suck, fuck those shelled bastards, eat your clams and stop killing me!

i'm currently avoiding looking up how to pass the part i'm stuck at. my pride keeps telling me i can figure it out but my patience is super limited. i may or may not cheat later. shhhh.

FINALLY

i think FXV is finally coming out in like November or something. idk. i just think they're hot.
